SUMMARY:7th Ward Tribute Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a captivating guided tour through Philadelphia’s historic 7th Ward\, spanning from Sixth Street to 23rd Street and from Spruce Street to South Street. This area\, important to the Underground Railroad and the Great Migration\, was the epicenter of Black Philadelphia in the 19th century. Discover the enduring legacy of influential figures such as Octavius Catto\, Fanny Jackson Coppin\, and W.E.B. Du Bois. \nDon’t forget to RSVP to let us know how many people are excited for this opportunity! \nWe will meet at Mother Bethel Church at 419 6th St\, Philadelphia before the tour starts at 1pm. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early for classic CISV energizers led by our awesome JBs crew! \nThe tour is just over 1 hour and takes place outdoors so bundle up and bring your comfortable walking shoes! There will be questions along the way so make sure to equipped yourself with knowledge. This 19-minute documentary is a good introduction to W.E.B. Du Bois and his study: A Legacy of Courage: W.E.B. Du Bois and The Philadelphia Negro – YouTube \nWe will gather again inside Mother Bethel Church after the tour to share our thoughts of the experience. \nThis tour is free\, offered courtesy of the 7th Ward Tribute project.
