Feel free to email Greg with any questions. \nCobbs Creek Cleanup at Mount Moriah Cemetery: MLK Day January 2024 \nSpecific Date TBD!! \n10am-1pm \nIf you need to leave early it’s no problem\, it’s flexible. \n  \nMeet at the entrance to Mount Moriah Cemetery on Cobbs Creek Parkway. There is a gravel lot at the entrance. \nMap with location (click on link):  Cobbs Creek Pkwy & Mt Moriah Cemetery (Map) \nFor GPS or to find public transportation options\, use address: \n1004 Cobbs Creek Pkwy\, Yeadon\, PA 19050 \nWe will be cleaning up along the Cobbs Creek Trail and surrounding area. Trash removal from trail\, creek\, and surrounding woods preserves this area for all to enjoy and prevents trash from traveling elsewhere in the watershed area. \nI will have some waders on hand\, for those who want to venture into the Creek\, as long as it’s not iced over. \nBring nothing (except your enthusiasm!). We will provide gloves and equipment like trash bags\, buckets\, and some pickers. Dress warmly! Waterproof shoes are nice if going on the creek banks but on the trail areas it’s dry.

Discover the enduring legacy of influential figures such as Octavius Catto\, Fanny Jackson Coppin\, and W.E.B. Du Bois. \nDon’t forget to RSVP to let us know how many people are excited for this opportunity! \nWe will meet at Mother Bethel Church at 419 6th St\, Philadelphia before the tour starts at 1pm. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early for classic CISV energizers led by our awesome JBs crew! \nThe tour is just over 1 hour and takes place outdoors so bundle up and bring your comfortable walking shoes! There will be questions along the way so make sure to equipped yourself with knowledge. This 19-minute documentary is a good introduction to W.E.B. Du Bois and his study: A Legacy of Courage: W.E.B. Du Bois and The Philadelphia Negro – YouTube \nWe will gather again inside Mother Bethel Church after the tour to share our thoughts of the experience. \nThis tour is free\, offered courtesy of the 7th Ward Tribute project. Get the full CISV camp experience\, learn how to help our chapter grow and spread our inspiring message of peace through building friendship\, cooperation and understanding. \nThere will be separate adult and JB activities throughout the whole weekend as well as the full camp experience (think Flag Time and Lullabies)! \nWhere: Joe C. Davis YMCA Outdoor Center/YMCA Camp YMCA OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE \n3088 Smith Springs Road\, Nashville\, TN 37013 \nWhen: Check-In Friday\, October 25th 11 am ending Sunday\, October 27th at 11:00am \nCamp Cost*: We are introducing a sliding scale for pricing to help make this affordable to everyone. Each person will register for one of the following tiers: \n● Tier 1 – $325 per person (this standard fee includes the cost to cover scholarship for those who \nmay need it.) \n● Tier 2 – $250 per person (discounted price) that does not include a scholarship donation. \n● Tier 3 – Scholarships are available. DESCRIPTION:The originally scheduled service day event for Jan 20\, Mon (MLK Day)\, 9a – 11a\, was rescheduled due to weather to 9-11a on Saturday\, Jan 25th. \nThe JB is excited to again collaborate with Friends of Cobbs Creek Park for a meaningful service event in January\, honoring Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Together\, we will engage in a park cleanup initiative\, contributing to the preservation of our local green space. \nThere are still two locations at this new time. We would like CISV participants to try to all register for the same location. Our preferred location for 2025 is S 65th St & Cobbs Creek Pkwy\, w/Andrew. \nPlease use the online form HERE to sign up and include “CISV Philadelphia” in the section asking for “Group or School”. \n  \nOnce your registration is confirmed\, please send an email with the subject line \nCOBBS CREEK to philadelphia@cisvusa.org \nto let us know you will be participating.
